A Different Declaration

A Word from Pastor Baptiste

Dear Norwalk SDA Family,

This weekend, America pauses to celebrate its birthday. Flags will wave, fireworks will fill the sky, and a nation will remember the courage of those who pledged “their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.”

But before we celebrate the birth of a nation, we are gathering around another table to remember the death of a Savior. This Sabbath — July 5th — is no ordinary Sabbath. It is a High Sabbath: Communion Sabbath falling on the morning after Independence Day, and the Spirit of God is already moving.

I am asking every member, every friend, and every family connected to Norwalk SDA to make every effort to be in the house of God this Sabbath. This is a service you will not want to miss — and one you will not soon forget.

Sneak Preview — From the Pulpit

This Sabbath we will stand at the intersection of two great declarations — one written by the founders of a nation, and one written by the Savior of the world. Before there was Independence Hall, there was an Upper Room.

Sermon — Luke 22:19–20

A Different Declaration

We will open the Word together and discover what happened on the night Jesus took bread, broke it, and said “This is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

We will trace the ancient words of Passover — and see how the Lamb who was on the table became the Lamb sitting at the table.

We will explore what the Greek text reveals, why this declaration is greater than any parchment ever signed, and what it means for your life this Tuesday morning — not just this Sabbath.

Three Freedoms No Government Can Give

Along the way, we will discover three freedoms that no constitution can give and no government can take away:

I. Freedom From Bondage

A judge can overturn a conviction. Only Jesus can erase the record. We will discover why political liberty can never cure spiritual slavery — and where real chains actually break.

II. Freedom For Becoming

Christ never frees us merely from something — He always frees us for something. We will see what that looks like in a real life, and what it could look like in yours.

III. Freedom With God’s Family

At this table, politics do not define us, ethnicity does not divide us, and income does not elevate us. The blood of Jesus makes one redeemed family out of people who agree on almost nothing else.

Tomorrow we will pledge allegiance to a flag. This Sabbath we kneel at an altar. Come and see why the ground is level at Calvary — and why the blood is thicker than politics, race, or culture.
