Why volunteering matters

At Norwalk Seventh-day Adventist Church, service is one of the clearest ways we live out our faith. Every worship service, community meal, health class, children's program, prayer team, and outreach event depends on volunteers who give their time, skill, and love. When you volunteer with us, you become part of a community that cares for our neighbors in Norwalk and greater Los Angeles — and you help make real, tangible difference in people's lives.

Ways to serve

• Food pantry & community assistance — sort donations, pack groceries, greet guests, and help distribute food during our Sunday pantry and Wednesday soup kitchen.
• Children's ministry — teach, assist, or provide safe supervision during Sabbath programs, Vacation Bible School, and family events.
• Youth ministry — mentor teens, help with Youth Vespers, and support Pathfinder club activities.
• Music & worship — sing, play, run sound, or support rehearsals for our Sabbath worship team and special services.
• Media & online ministry — livestream, video production, photography, social media, graphic design, and website support.
• Health & wellness events — help set up, register guests, assist presenters, and prepare healthy food demonstrations.
• Hospitality & guest services — greet visitors, welcome first-time guests, serve at fellowship meals, and help newcomers feel at home.
• Prayer ministry — pray with and for people, join our prayer team, and support pastoral care.
• Facilities & setup — help prepare rooms, care for the campus, and support events behind the scenes.

What to expect

After you submit the volunteer interest form below, a ministry leader will follow up to learn more about your interests, availability, and the areas where you'd like to serve. Some volunteer roles — especially those involving children, youth, vulnerable adults, transportation, or sensitive personal information — may require screening, training, approval, or ministry leader orientation before service begins. This helps us maintain a safe and Christ-centered environment for everyone.

Child & youth safety

Norwalk SDA Church is committed to creating safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environments for children and youth. Volunteers serving with children or youth may be required to complete background screening, safeguarding training, and ministry leader approval before serving.
